We may only be a few miles from DTLA but you will completely forget how close to the city you are once you are hiking through the canopy of Alder Oak Trees and getting lost in the sound of the trickling stream. You will get lost in the history of the San Gabriel Mountains as you're greeted with an old mining entrance as we begin our hike to the majestic 30 foot waterfall hidden at the end of this quaint canyon.
Great for Children 5 and up. There is some miner rock "climbing" and walking over the stream. Mostly flat and maintained trail. ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT.
Be prepared to learn about Riparian Eco Systems and our Mining History of the San Gabriel Mountains!
Note: In dry summer months the waterfall is much smaller and in some years may dry up
If hiking with children hands on learning tools will be used. Such as Scavenger hunts, handouts, journals to document plants like a real life Scientist. Depends on age range.
